Learn Indian Flute

It’s not easy to play flute for them who have a habit of quitting or changing passion in a very short time of intervals but yes it’s easy to play if you keep practicing for long term.

Following things you should be known before starting

Basics of music like

  • How many notes are there
  • How many thaat
  • what is raag
  • what is komal and shuddha swar

Let’s start with the notes…

There are total 12 notes in an octave where 7 are pure or shuddha and 5 are impure or vikrit notes

( Sa, Re, Ga, m, Pa, Dha, Ni, SA) This is a pure Octave
(Sa, re, Re, ga, Ga, m, M, Pa, dha, Dha, ni, NI, SA) This is all 12 notes

For playing flute you have to first practice saragams which s called ornaments and before that how to play that all notes in a flute?

This image is for 5 pure notes and one tivra note
(Sa, Re, Ga, Ma, Pa, Dha, Ni, SA)

And below image is for all notes

First, you have to learn Sa, Re, Ga, m, Pa, Dha, Ni, SA and after that, you have to practice below ornaments for a few months only after that you would be able to play perfectly, I’d suggest you make a photocopy of that below image

Now Start practicing and I’ll upload some audios on next blog to make it more clear
